Having Headers ceramic coated?
Those are the painted version of the headers I want, some $600 differnce. Anyway, a buddy of mine once told me that he had his painted headers sent out to have them ceramic coated. Is that a falacy? Will that actually be the same thing as getting the ceramic coated ones off the shelf for a little bit cheaper?
Heres the jist of the type of place that i am talking about, anyone ever try something like this?

A while back there was a guy here that always got his headers in plain painted and sent them off to get ceramic coated. Why, because he would go over the headers and smooth down all the welds, remove spatter and etc. which allowed for a longer lasting ceramic coating.
I would figure to spend a minimum of $200 to get a set coated. Shipping will be extra.

I would look at a set of Doug Thorley Ceramic Coated headers, I looked on Summits site and they have a set for your truck, they are expensive though, a little under $1,000.

The Stailess Banks headers would be my first choice.
What kind are these, there nice and cheap, but are these shorties?

But these were the ones i have been thinking about, unless the tri-y header is better, where do these hookers match up with the doug thorleys and banks?>

Also, who sells the banks headers by themselves?

The Tri-Ys should give more torque at lower rpms than staindard 4into1 style headers.
You can buy Banks headers separtly. You can get them directly from Banks, however I don't know the names of sites offhand that sell them. Do a search for them. There are several places on the net that sell them separtly.
Those Hookers are definatly long tubes however the flanges are only 5/16" and the tubing is only 18Ga. For that price they should be built better IMO.
The Doug Thorley Tri-Ys have 14Ga. tubing and 3/8" flanges which are much thinker than the Hookers. You will not get as much interior moise from the headers due to the extra thickness of the tubes that the Thorley's have. Notice the Thorley's have a 2.5" collector diameter and most of the others have a 3" collector diameter. The smaller collector should provide more torque compare to the others. The Thorley headers are designed for trucks (Banks too) which require low end torque and not just top end hp like other header manuf. You can get the Doug Thorley headers directly from Doug Thorley and maybe you could get a better price by telling them you do not need the Y-pipe that comes with because your running duals.
These are what I consider Shorties. (These fit my 6.8l V10)

HPC is FAA approved for radial aircraft engine exhausts.
Use what process makes you happy.

Thorley offers Chrome Plating or Ceramic coating. I think the ceramic would be best. The chrome will definatley rust up quick.
Also before ordering the headers you need to know if you have a EGR system on your truck or not. I'm not really up on the 95' 460 you have in your truck, however with my 04' F250 SD some have EGR and some don't. (I don't have EGR) You have to know where to look to verify if you have EGR or not.
