My '77 F150 has a slit hole the size of a quarter that's raised up on the ds to the left of the seat, underneath it's right above the floor brace-almost looks like the factory floor was made that way-vent hole ?
Maybe a hole for a screw for a long piece of trim, like the door rocker scuff plate. Sometimes those holes are elongated, I guess to deal with production variances. Can you post up a pic of it?
Maybe where an old fuel selector valve poked through?
Though I thought by '77 they were already using the electric valve type, switched from the dash. Any chance yours has an earlier body swapped on to the '77 frame? Or maybe my year models are off.
Does yours happen to be an early '77?
But yes, pics would help for sure.
Even with the finicky workings of uploading images to this site recently, it should let you if you're stubborn enough!
There could be a problem with drumming. If one window is partially open, a drumming effect may be present inside the cabin.
Fixum: Drill a small hole in the floor in an inconspicuous place, under the seat for example. The problem is solved.
Some people don't notice because the radio is blaring away.
My 2017 Fusion drums, it sounds like the US Army drum corp is practicing in the back seat. I open one a the rear windows a bit, drumming goes away.
Also affected: 2004-2014 Nissan Titan's. When I notified the Titan dealer after I bought a new 2004, they said they were aware, but didn't know how to fix it. I told them to drill the hole.
Here's what the fuel selector valve areas looks like closer up. Notice there are three holes. Two smaller ones for the mounting bolts and a larger one for the main switch body.
I happen to have two separate mounting locations on my truck.

Same spot-I have a switch on the dash as well in the heater control-does yours ?
No FoMoCo manually operated fuel tank selector valve after 1974.
1973/74 FoMoCo selector switch located in the heater control panel only changes the dash fuel gauge from one tank to the other.
----------
1975/79's have a fuel tank selector valve and solenoid assy mounted on the cross member.
The selector switch located in the heater control panel changes the tanks and the dash fuel gauge from one tank to the other.
