You guys know those cuppy things in the back of the Aerostar on the floor well one of those doors on the drivers side the hinge is all rusted out I went to open it and the top piece came out how do I fix this? thanks fordguy101
In the rear of the very back seat one of those cuppy holes in the floor that open up well the peice that opens up was all rusted out and that pice came out how do I fix it? thanks fordguy101
Im not too sure which "cuppy things" you are talking about. But if you could tell me exactly what thier function is then i would be able to help, i own 2 aerostars currently and am not familliar with there being "cuppy things" in the floor that open up, but i have seen aerostars in the scrap yard that have storage compartments in the floor behind the seat if thats what you are talking about, the only other thing i could possibly imagine you are referring to are the seat latches. please elaborate
i think hes talking about those tool compartments in the very back, where the jack is kept on newer aeros. theres one cubby hole on each side, on the floor, as big as a shoebox, maybe bigger. the door hinges on them get all yucky and cruddy from condensation and crud that is normally on our van floors. it seems as his hinge failed.
i might suggest removing the hinge from the door and from the recess in the floor, if its screwed on, get a new section of "piano hinge" from your local hardware store. and drill holes to match the screw holes in the lid and floor, and just screw the new one on.
if its glued, I would use some sort of heavy duty adhesive. like E-6000 (available at craft stores) or automotive GOOP, or some sort of silicone/superglue hybrid. theres tons of them out there.
