2018 loaded KR. Travelling on a snow bird trip. This afternoon Nav starting wandering all over. Per the screen, I'm several miles off shore in the Pacific Ocean right now... Better keep the windows rolled up..... "No GPS" icon is illuminated.
I'll call my dealer Monday (warranty), but curious if anyone else experienced this. I did turn off the engine and let it sit awhile, still no GPS....
Haven't lost my GPS yet (that actually sounds kinda oxymoronic!!), but mine has wandered a couple of times. More specifically, it would tell me my destination was 3 hours away, when it was less than 10 minutes away. It would keep "updating" until it finally caught up again. It hasn't happened recently, but it has done that twice on me. Very strange.
The only issue I ever had with the Ford’s GPS was one camping trip where a good 40 miles or so of the highway was diverted into the oncoming lanes. The whole time I was over in the other lanes, it wouldn’t update because I was off route (I.e. not on the right side of the road).
The OP’s issue sounds different. You mention this is a snow birding trip. Are you in warmer weather already, or is it possible your Satellite receiver is all iced up? Too much buildup can really scramble your signals.

Bad APIM.
Take your vehicle in so they can verify this.
A new APIM will have to be ordered.
Just watched a YouTube on how to reset the APIM. Went to the truck to do it, but now, of course, GPS is working fine today.... I hope this isn't going to be a chronic PITA all trip...

I had my GPS stop working while on a trip last June. For some reason it gave me the red circle and slash over the GPS while drive thru Ohio. I just continued and thought I would dick with it when I got home. Turned out I had to spend the night in PA. Got up the next day and all was right with the GPS world. Haven't had a problem since. Might just be a one off issue.

That video is just a soft reboot and it`s a well known procedure to get everything working properly if an owner is having weird problems with the SYNC 3 system but, this procedure doesn`t last very long and the problems will soon return.
I`m glad to hear that everything seems to be working properly for you and I hope it last but don`t count on it.
Most if not all Ford dealers know about these APIM problems.
Thanks all, once APIM is received, is it a quick fix? Gotta divert my vacation a little...
Hmmmm, Remember, each APIM is specific to each vehicle and it`s VIN# and as far as I know and what i`ve read, a new APIM has to be programmed at a Ford dealership using specific software that`s only available at a Ford dealer.
So if you`re buying it from an outside source, make sure it`s programmed because I really doubt that a Ford dealer will program it for you.
All good points. It's been 3 days since the APIM issue decided on its own to fix itself. I did call and inform my local Ford Dealer to document issue, but it'll be a couple months before I'm back there...

Very good point. My invoice hade a charge on it for the programming but it was no cost due to warranty. Talked to them yesterday and they said F250 APIMs are in stock at the manufacturer where they direct shio from at lest for the Dealers. F150 are still on national back order.
Owners out there with Forscan need to remember that the APIM reports any changes to Ford. I don't know if this affects warranty for issues like this or not.

Thanks for the info on the APIM`s and that explains why the APIM for my F150 has not come in yet.
