I just experienced this. GPS started wandering off and never synced back up. I’m parked at home and FordPass thinks it’s 3hrs away. I have about 500 miles on the truck so I’ll surely be talking to the dealership on this.
What i I found odd is I was using the Apple carplay which I assume used the phone GPS but I guess it doesn’t.
Since my OP, I've done nothing and the system reset itself after that first night and it's been working perfectly ever since... Oregon down to Phoenix via Zion, no issues...

This is what mine did also. It did happen again, but once again, after I got home, next day everything was fine. It hasn't happened again in a while, but I don't drive the truck (this use the GPS) daily. I did use it just today though, and no issues. It was spot on.

Yes, this is typical behavior of the SYNC 3 system and APIM issues and mine does the same thing only to revert back to acting weird.
I`m glad to hear all is working well for you and I hope it last but, don`t count on it.

The problem/symptom you described sounds like you were using the factory navigation.....not Apple Maps or Google Maps in CarPlay
Yep mine started acting up again today after having a new APIM installed 2 weeks ago! @#$()$%@(#$%@#^(#@^(^^(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Did a reset so we will see if it straightens out otherwise, put another one in.
I hap a similar problem when I had a new truck with an old iPhone. In 2014, 2014 F150 and 4S. If I was using the GPS, call came in, answered, after a phone call the GPS would always be messed up. Everything was updated but the problem was still there. The final solution was getting a new phone.. I can't say if this is your problem, but it sounds similar.

......Well that sucks.
Hopefully the reset will fix it.

I was using Google Maps (totally different look) via Apple CarPlay and also Spotify via Apple CarPlay.
First call to the dealer they said "go to syncmyride.com and send an update". Well it's up to date already according to the site which I expected so no help there. I'll try to reset.

I actually didn't even have to do the reset. When I powered back on everything was normal so i'll see if it happens again. There seems to be an issue with the GPS correcting itself? Yes GPS may wander some at times but it should correct itself without needing to power off and power on. Unfortunately this was my first time experiencing this and didn't know to look to see if it actually lost GPS or it was actually inaccurate since the truck is so new to me.
I also logged a case with the ford sync3 chat support.
