remote door locks

I have been having a good time fixing everything that was broken with my 49 F1. The last thing I just did was put in a new door latch assembly because the one in the door was welded in the open position. The mystery of why would anyone do this is now solved. I have a key lock on the passenger side and none on the drivers side, so if I lock the drivers door and then go out the passengers door I can lock the truck with the key. Sounds good right? However if you lock the passenger door by pulling up the handle and shutting the door, you are now locked out ! The key will not unlock the door if that handle was pulled up before closing the door. So to lock the truck you must make sure the door lock is off then close it and use the key to lock it. Then and only then will the key work to unlock the door. No big deal right unless you forget and then the only way in is through a window. So has anyone put in remote locks as a backup on a 48-50 ford F1 maintaining the original locks ?
