I am getting ready to swap out transmissions in my 80 f-150 shortbed and am wondering if there are any complications I'm not thinking of... I'm switching out the original C6 with a five speed out of a 97 f250. I already have the pedels and column taken care of but still am not sure about transmission mounts and overall transmission length difference. Any tips or suggestions would be much appreciated.
the tailshaft on a c6 might be a prob. not sure how many splines are on the manual but they might not line up. i don't know if the blocks are the same also
The engines are both 351w so that shouldn't be a problem, and I am switching transfer cases as well.. the only problem I should have there is switching the yoke on the transfer case since it is out of a 3/4 ton. If the tailshafts are the same i wouldn't mind staying with the original 208 transfer case.
yeah you may run into a problem with the c-6 length at the tail stock, The c-6 is big and the 5 speed will be smaller, i've done a c-6 to aod switch and it wasn't to bad. You may have a few problems but nothing serious, maybe check the tranny forum
