Well the Beast's engine or the Bat Caves' engine finally said enough, 'bout 30 miles east of Shrevport LA on my way to Savannah GA. job I have there. the old 77 F250 Camper Special's 460 oil pressure went to 0lbs, darn it wasn't a sender unit failure either, the clater from under the hood assured me of that, had to ship her home to KS.
So whats the opinion out there;
a) new crate motor,from whom?
b) jasper rebuild
c) have local machine shop rebuild the original
or the interesting option
d) a FI 460 from a '90's model

Reason: option correction
Jasper requires installation by an approved shop. This is to support their warranty. They may also insist on additional stuff relating to the cooling system (i.e. new water pump).
A 90s 460 will be EFI so that could get complicated.
The reason I included the FI 460 is I was at the Street National Car Show in Wichita back in '15 and spotted a '77? F250 super Cab and the owner told me he had transplanted the EFI460 into his truck, and it looked good, nice dark blue truck. if any knows him I sure would like to get the specifics on all he had to do and what he used from the '90's donor truck. I do like this option, tunning carb's is a young racer's job. done my share and still have some vehicles that run them.

The EFI 460 is a nice engine. I have one in a '90 F-350 and can smoke the dual rear wheels at will. I resist that temptation most of the time. The OD helps but it is still a gas hog.
To transplant one of these, you might best obtain a running donor truck. The engine and transmission are computer managed so you'll need all of those related pieces.
If youve ever owned a carborated model 7mpg uphill, downhill, sitting without engine running.... you get my drift, but gas was only 1$/gal back then if that, just no octane anymore since the days of 105 oct pump gas but with lead.
I also own a '90 F150 w/ 351EFI, but that trucks another story.
