I have rebuilt several carbs over the last few years, the last one being the EAB v8 carb in our 52 build. It is the best running of any I have rebuilt, maybe a testament to practice makes perfect. I used a 94 kit from Daytona, the power valve and power valve gasket is from Charlie NY, and the jet plug gaskets from an EBay seller in FL. I soaked in Berryman, then an ultrasonic cleaner of pinesol, and the carb base in evaporust. Lots of small pipe brushes and compressed air. It’s rewarding and educational to rebuild them yourself so give it a try. Start with the best core you can find. If the outside throttle body parts are corroded, chances are so is the inside, making the check ball etc a real challenge to replace and clean.
I so want a carb with a hand throttle setup, I have a dump bed, i am thinking it would like to be throttled up a bit to operate quicker, of course in 1951 folks wern't in such a hurry,Eh?

Good idea. I don't know if a manual throttle cable can be added onto the carb. Its on the other side of teh carb from the accelerator cable.
But can't you have your foot on the brake and your toes on the accelerator pedal at the same time?

Back in the day they sat in the cab and goosed the gas pedal. I know this for a fact. If you wanted to spread material you would set your gate chains first then release the gate latch before you climbed back in the cab to go. A hand throttle for this purpose is very impractical, imo. My mixer has hand throttle, clutch, and PTO controls on the rear of the truck, but it's an entirely different situation.
Hand throttle . is always a good idea on a truck at my house, the lever that works my dump bed is about a foot(12") behind my cab, sticks out thru the top part of the running board.
Although I do have really really really long fingers, prolly the longest in the world, maybe the longest ever thru out mankind,(LOL) I cant imagine working the throttle with my toes whilst working
the leaver, so call me beaver.
I would really like a hand throttled carb. on my truck.
I do believe I will have one.

My apologies. I can't even envision any dump bed controls that pop up through the running board. That said, it would be simple enough to fab some slip linkage or a chain (like cruise controls) for a hand throttle. You could even get fancy and use a linear actuator instead of a Bowden cable.

Ohhhh. I thought the PTO lever and the lever to raise and lower the bed were in the cab.....
