Carb identification help...

hey guys, i created an account here because i saw that this was one of the few ford forums where guys new what they were talking about. I have a 1981 ford fairmont, and the carb needs a rebuild. I looked up the stock carb info, and it said i should have a holley 5200 or 6500. But when i look at the tag, it say

Motorcraft

EIDE DA - not sure if I or 1 or D or 0 or O

A 1B26 - not sure if B or 8 and there is a space between A and 1

As you can see im very new to carbs, so please understand this

Thanks for the helps guys.

Welcome to FTE.

I'll ping NumberDummy, he should have the sedan books and did this for a living.

I expect E-numeral-one-DE but am not sure, ND is the true authority.

Welcome to FTE

When factory installed on a FoMoCo vehicle, whatever make carb it is, will have Motorcraft ID and part numbers. But, that doesn't mean it is a Motorcraft carb.

Carb ID tag number: E1DE-DA = Ford part number: E1DZ-9510-D .. Holley-Weber 2V Carburetor (Motorcraft CA-2689).

E1PZ-9A586-DB .. Holley-Weber 2V Carburetor Kit (Motorcraft CT-1281-A) / Obsolete

Original applications: 1981 Fairmont/Zephyr 2.3L (140 cid 4 banger).

I would think that if you took the carb tag number to NAPA, they could get you a carb kit. But if you want genuine Ford:

MILLER OBSOLETE PARTS in Binghamton NY has ONE = 607-722-5371.

GREEN SALES CO. in Cincinnati OH has ONE = 800-543-4959.

SMACKOVER MOTORS in Smackover AR has ONE = 870-725-3961.

BOWMAN SALES & SERVICE in Bowman ND has ONE = 701-523-3257.

BELL-MCCALL MOTOR CO. in Hamilton MT has ONE = 406-363-2011.
