intake system

Ok so instead of searching online for an intake for my truck which is imposible to find im planning on custom making one out of alumnum piping and 2 cone filters. does anyone know what diameter piping would provide optimal performance for top end.

i would start with a pipe that fits the throttle body... but i'm surprised you can't find a kit.. what's the truck?

its a 95 f150 flareside with a 4.9 L

try a 302 kit, or even a 351 kit. It "SHOULD" work fine, if not only minor mods should be required.

summit has the kn kit for your truck it's pn KNN-57-2503 and sells for 211.95 hope that helps

K&N makes a FIPK kit to fit your 4.9. Iknow because I have one on mine. I think the part number is FIPK 5057.

Why not? The airbox is the same for all engines in the f-series excluding lightning.

I might be wrong, I'd have to find my manual which is deep in moving boxes, but my 300 I thought had a different setup because it's an I-6 vs V-8. I know the 302/351s would work.

A 300-I6 is set up with twin 21/4" tubes on the airbox, And a 302-V8 has a single 41/2" tube running to its box.

I know the hoses are smaller, but I thought the actual air box was exactly the same. The 302 with a single is a mass air motor, and the intake is different than the speed density 302's.
