oil in intake pipe

oil in intake pipe

when i removed the intake pipe to remove the throttle plate there was a small amount of oil laying in the pipe where the rubber connector is
the truck is an 03 w/ a jan 15 03 build date?
something i need to worry about or is normal

A certified diesel mechanic at Prestige in Dallas area(one of largest in south) told me it was normal, I had the same question!

Yes - oil in the intake is completely normal - I installed the Banks Technicooler and the old intercooler and tubes were full of oil. I took it to a dealer, and they said it is completely normal. One problem is the oil breather venting into the intake - there is an article in the tech info section here that tells you how to get that vent out of the intake and direct it back to the rear of the truck - I plan on doing it soon. I would think that it might cut down on cold engine smoking at little as well.
