They have to do PDV on the wheels now because the various chemicals they put on the roads in the wintertime reacts with the chromium in the plating and will pit the real chrome right away. That's probably why JeepPuller's hooks rusted right away too. Lots of aftermarket wheels are this way now too and they don't peel like the Ford ones did. Whoever was doing Ford's coating was doing a poor job on prep, using poor material, or both.
