White mirror's or chrome ?

I need to replace my chrome overlays on my mirrors, but I have been seeing a lot of truck here on FTE with all white mirrors and starting to like that look.

So should I go with chrome overlays again, or all white mirrors ?

Here is what I have now.

The white mirrors take a beating with bugs and other debris. I think chrome (even the plastic kind) is more durable. I think the white mirrors look good from a distance but up close you can see they have a different sheen and don't shine up the same as the rest of the truck. I don't think our truck came with white mirrors originally....it looks like they were black and painted white at some point during it's previous life.

Here is a pic of my wife's truck. In the top photo you might be able to see how scratched up the mirror housing is. Looks like both mirrors will need to be re-painted in the spring.

You have the chrome door handles so I think the chrome mirrors look good on your truck.

I agree. If you went with white mirror covers, you'd need to ditch the door handles and gas tank cover.

I think if you got the heated/lighted style the chrome or white would look great. But the older style, I would leave black, it is a good contrast. I am not a big fan of the putco covers.

I would do this anyways, I think your truck would look a lot cleaner and newer with painted handles. Then remove the door moulding and chrome fender trim... That is just my .02$... good looking truck either way.

Whats wrong with your present chrome covers? I like the look of all the chrome trim on your truck-I have the chrome mirror covers, door handles, and tailgate latch too on my White '99.....

Mark,

White mirrors and white body side mouldings. I got '04 mouldings from Ed to match my lower silver color. I like them better then the '99 mouldings.

However you go you will still have a beautiful truck.

I vote white as I hate chrome, as evidenced by my truck. The only chrome that I have on my truck is the grill.

Less is more in my opinion. My dad always said "If everyone liked the same thing, the world would be a pretty dull place." With that said, you have to be happy with it.

I'm 100% in with this, but then, I'm not really a fan of chrome in general. I think the body-color matched handles and black mirrors would look best unless you have 08+ signal mirrors - those are good in black or body color.

Even tough I wash my truck a couple time a week during the winter, The Putco cover have not held up to Michigan winters.

I've been thinking of removing of removing the push bar, add some new black 08 mirrors, new 08 black running boards, and copy Robin's 08 tail gate.

Are the Putco covers plastic chrome? if so they will clean right up with some Flitz polish and a little elbow grease-I have in-expensive generic plastic covers on my '99 for about 2 years here in Florida where salt air is the culpret-I keep my plastic chrome stuff well waxed and do go over it all well about twice a year with the Flitz polish-may be you can still save what you've got??
