Chrome Package

What do you guys think of the Chrome Pakage on the 06 Super Duty's. I have found an 06 that I am interested in but it has the Chrome Package. I think the grille is OK, and the cab steps look good, but I can't stand the chrome mirrors. Would it be hard to swap out the mirrors?

Anyway, just seeing what the opinion was on that package.

I got the chrome package on my 06 because of the grille and chrome tow hooks. I also like the mirrors, but didn't care one way or the other at first.

Most people want the chrome mirrors so if you swap them out it shouldn't be hard to get rid of them.

I do believe they can be swapped out. Actually I believe they are the same mirrors only they have a chrome stick on.

You may be able to just take of the chrome then clean the adhesive, but not sure....

Sorry Its too much chrome! for me.
I didn't like the grille,or the mirrors or tow hooks .I didn't buy .

But I wish I could have gotten the chrome bumpers with two tone paint.
I order my truck without the cab steps ,then ordered them from my friend at the parts dept and saved $ The bumpers will be changed to chrome when the paited ones look like chit in a yr or so.

My wife decided my 06 looks like a fire engine ran into the back of a refridgerator

Since they sell the chrome caps for the mirrors, you might be able to just replace
the caps instead of the entire mirror. OTOH, they are pretty easy to clean with windex....
I always have a hard time getting mashed bugs off the black parts of the mirrors.

I think the grill, steps, and tow hooks look really good. I wouldn't let the mirrors stop me.

..Also didn't like it...as I recall when I bought (two weeks ago), you couldn't change the mirrors from "chrome" to "black". On my other trucks, I've destroyed several of those side mirrors, and replacing is about a 20 minute job. Side mirrors cost around $200, but if you can wait you'll find them at ebay for $50-100. The thing I hated was that I wanted the 20" wheels, and everytime I found what I wanted, it had that darn $705 chrome package to go with it. A little too "rice mod" for me.

I really like the stock big-bar grill, so I went with that. The mirrors were just a little too blingy for me!

I guess it depends on the individual. I personal like the chrome look on my truck. So much that i bought chrome wire protectors and dressed my engine and undercab lines with them.

Might be alittle to much but thats me.

Chrome Package

I got the chrome package on my '06 King Ranch because I really didn't like the King Ranch Running Boards and like the Tube Steps much better. The mirrors are OK, grill looks nice and I like the chrome exhaust tip and tow hooks. To sum it up, there is a fair amount of chrome and I am not normally a big fan of chrome but I do think it adds to the look of the truck.

I just ordered my 2007 with the chrome package.I like the looks, plus it's easier cleaning.I wish I could have gotten the 20" rims, but you have to order the crew cab or king ranch. The piggy bank just didn't have enough pennies,so I opted for a Lariat.

the chrome mirrors look good when they are perfectly clean. bugs stick to chrome like you wouldn't believe, and they are hard as crap to get off. other than that, the tow hooks, bumper and grille look great IMO. for those who are more observant, there are also chrome tie downs in the bed, unless that comes standards on all trucks.
