the sweet spot on a stock 352 is off idle Up to 2800 not OVER 2800.
My bone stock Ranger with 3.25 gears and factory Overdrive does fantastic right off idle. As soon as Truck is rolling it’s in 2nd gear then usually in high at 2000 rpm. Into high OD by 40 mph.
I assume you run about 29" tires?
3.25 with the .85 overdrive comes out to be 2.76:1 overall. Running 70, you should be turning about 2200 RPM correct?
I think I have read where Bill (Number Dummy) had a very similar setup in his '65 and made well over 20 MPG when driving really nice.
