6.2L engine tick
Smitty250/Ande, what's the latest on your trucks?
My situation: Bought a brand new 2018 F250 6.2 last year - it had numerous problems Ford couldn't fix (bad door alignment issues, intermittent long crank that even fuel pump/programming didn't fix, repeated water leaks, etc.) Ford replaced it with the 2019 F250 6.2 I am driving now.
The 2019 drove off the lot with a slight tick that varied with RPM (like yours). First few trips to the dealership resulted in "we don't hear it" - Over time it got louder. It finally got so loud at 11k miles that I actually got the dealership service manager to say "wow, that is not right" so it's been in there 2 weeks now. It's a loud ticking sound coming from the engine compartment, possibly on the driver's side (seems louder sitting in the driver's seat) - increases and decreases with RPM. After the first week they told me they have no idea what's making the sound, but they do acknowledge it. They actually said "Take it home and drive it until something breaks" - nope. Not doing that. They actually said "we haven't seen any 6.2's with engine noises" - they obviously don't read these forums.
Regional tech supposed to stop by this week and hear the noise for himself and make recommendations to dealership on how to proceed. Dealership has ruled out exhaust leaks, they are thinking it's internal to the engine at this point but "can't just tear it open to go looking for the issue if Ford doesn't give them the OK" - sounds like their problem, not mine.
I am beyond done with this whole experience. Two brand new F250 6.2 trucks in a row total pieces of **** and gigantic time suck staying on top of dealership and Ford to do something or make it right. I blew a good 6 months dealing with Ford RAV getting my lemon replacement to happen last year. Here we go again...

Yes sir it sounds like it has 500 thousand miles it's embarrassing to drive it . We got a lawyer he is handeling it now . I think the right side cam phaser is not getting oil said that after it was replaced they . Had oil change and it immediately started banging away really bad with new oil . I think a oil journal is clogged or semi clogged .
Yes document everything.
This truck is the most expensive vehicle I have ever owned and has caused more problems that any vehicle I have ever had . The truck cost more than my parent's house did . These people need to stand up be a man and fix these lemons but it ain't going to happen . What will happen is the the "technitions" they hired from Wal-Mart last week will say I don't hear anything it's normal . The only times which were 2 that I got them to admit there was a problem with my truck was when I drove them around and they could not set in that passengers seat and say I don't hear it they know I would have called them on it .you need to take them by there little hand put them in the truck and drive there sorry butt around so they can't lie !
I'm driving it. Have bout 2500 miles on it now. Still ticks, some days worse than others. Seems sluggish to me and after I drove my buddies 6.2 the other day I can say it def is. Something is wrong, I'm just sick of wasting vacation days and my time to have the techs give me no answers. time will tell...
Yea my 2017 was a great truck also but the trucks in question are new 2019 50 thousand dollar + vehicle's . It's obvious to the people unfortunate enough that got one of these lemons ford has some kind of engine problems . Look up mustang typewriter tick and keep your old truck as long as possible.
