6.2L engine tick
My 2019 6.2 started making noise right side of motor with 20 miles on it .dealer had it 20 couple days replaced both cam phasers. I got it back and it started making noise again.I took it back they said we don't hear anything . I took it to another dealer they said definitely not normal they have had it ever since .truck has been at ford dealers 48 days now .
starting that process .I have had 6 ford vehicles 5 trucks .never again after this one !
Sounds like you lack the OCD component that most of us on these truck forums are plagued by - lucky you. I wish I could ignore weird sounds coming from my engine compartment. It just makes me think "This thing is a piece of ****, I either want it fixed or I don't want to drive it."
Just my opinion if you are looking to purchase a new ford and dealer says take it home drive it for the weekend do it .test drive the thing for as long as you can .I'm not sure what truck to purchase after I get rid of this ford . I know all vehicles can have problems but the way ford has handled this has left me never wanting a ford again
if your dealer is like the first one I took mine to any odd noise or loud taping any thing that any person with any common sense would think is not a good engine noise they will probably tell you it's normal
In another post someone responded to me and said they think ford is just slapping these engines together crossing there fingers they make it till out of warranty . I believe he was correct. Hay we had so many problems Sith the cam phasers in the f150 let's put them in the 6.2 f250
Smitty250/Ande, what's the latest on your trucks?
My situation: Bought a brand new 2018 F250 6.2 last year - it had numerous problems Ford couldn't fix (bad door alignment issues, intermittent long crank that even fuel pump/programming didn't fix, repeated water leaks, etc.) Ford replaced it with the 2019 F250 6.2 I am driving now.
The 2019 drove off the lot with a slight tick that varied with RPM (like yours). First few trips to the dealership resulted in "we don't hear it" - Over time it got louder. It finally got so loud at 11k miles that I actually got the dealership service manager to say "wow, that is not right" so it's been in there 2 weeks now. It's a loud ticking sound coming from the engine compartment, possibly on the driver's side (seems louder sitting in the driver's seat) - increases and decreases with RPM. After the first week they told me they have no idea what's making the sound, but they do acknowledge it. They actually said "Take it home and drive it until something breaks" - nope. Not doing that. They actually said "we haven't seen any 6.2's with engine noises" - they obviously don't read these forums.
Regional tech supposed to stop by this week and hear the noise for himself and make recommendations to dealership on how to proceed. Dealership has ruled out exhaust leaks, they are thinking it's internal to the engine at this point but "can't just tear it open to go looking for the issue if Ford doesn't give them the OK" - sounds like their problem, not mine.
I am beyond done with this whole experience. Two brand new F250 6.2 trucks in a row total pieces of **** and gigantic time suck staying on top of dealership and Ford to do something or make it right. I blew a good 6 months dealing with Ford RAV getting my lemon replacement to happen last year. Here we go again...
