Can't siphon gas

I needed some gas for the chainsaw and knowing that I have a full tank in the F150 I tried to siphon some out and save myself a trip to the corner gas bar. In goes the special funnel from FORD, and then inserted through the funnel a 1/4inch siphon hose. It goes down a few inches and stops, but is not below the gasoline surface. So what wonderful technology did FORD insert down that little hole to prevent a law-abiding citizen from siphoning his own gas? Is there any way to get gas out other than burning it off???

There is one in the lower neck and there is one in the tank connector. The grey tank connector is the real show stopper.

Drill a hole in the bottom of the plastic fuel tank and install a petcock. That’s your only solution of you want to do this regularly.

Surely keeping a 5 gallon fuel can around is a better idea. I use the 5 gallon to fill a one gallon that I pre mix 2 stroke fuel in. The rest of the big can gets used in the mower.

If you feel adventurous unhook the return fuel line. Hook up a piece of hose in its place to your gas can and start the truck for a few seconds.

Fuel return lines died in 2004 these are on demand systems. There is no fuel filter either to disconnect.

On my 2001 F-150 I modified my Fuel Rail pressure tester, so I could bled fuel off through a fuel hose. Is there a Schrader Valve on the newer F-150?? I looked, but don't see one. BTW at Idle on the 2001, I could bled a lot of fuel off before the engine stumbled.

No return line and no regulator.

I have a 3/8 vinyl tube I cut the end at an angle insert the special funnel run the tubing into the tank when it stops turn and push on the tube it will go around the corner and then you can push in a bout a foot more or so and siphon all the gas you want. I fill my mower and weedeater cans like this when I don't want to make a special trip for one or 2 gallons. i figured out how to do it when i traded in my 2012 that I had just filled up, 27 gallon tank, I filled my wifes car and gave my neighbor some gas and filled the mower and weedeater cans. I didn't leave a whole bunch in it I only live 2.5 miles from the dealership.

Do you have/own a gas can?

The best and safest thing to do is to make the short drive/trip to the gas station and fill up your gas can.

It usually comes with F150`s and on the current generation F150`s, it`s behind the rear passenger seat with the jack.

ive only been successful siphoning a few gas tanks on many different vehicles. sometimes a ball valve gets in the way or even a rolled lip at the end of the filler neck and its pretty hard to get a hose in there not to mention pretty slow
