Good afternoon Oregon and everyone everywhere else.
That's pretty sad Jim..
Yes it is. I've been across that bar on many occasions. When the water is as rough as it has been, the USCG closes the bar to boats like mine and other uninspected recreational - non commercial fishing vessels. I check before I leave the house and if the ocean is 4' or greater, we don't even leave the house and if it picks up before we get there, the boat doesn't leave the trailer.
The bigger commercial net draggers, trawlers and crabbers will venture out in bigger seas, but generally have bigger boats that that can handle it. I'm really waiting to see just what happened.
This is the area of the accident about 3 weeks ago when we were over there. Yes, the boat stayed home! USCG was calling it 24 to 30' multiple angle waves at the tips when I took this shot.
Good evening Oregon and everyone everywhere else. Raining and wet. Was doing some work on the pickup and I am now completely wet. Have to go get the batteries put back in and I am done.
And I'm going to keep it that way, oceans are too big for this guy...lol
I am certainly not a rough water fellow. I love the big waves and the big splashes, as long as I am watching them from a good solid chunk of land. Calm water or small waves on 7 second or greater centers are O.K.. You ought to be there when that big whale broaches right next to the boat and catches everyone by surprise! Warden says they have really bad breath. I have to agree with her. BTW, she hasn't been out on the ocean in the boat with me since we had a very close encounter of the whale variety.
Good evening Chris. Got around to putting the LED headlights in the pickup today. Took it for a test drive a little bit ago on death alley and a couple of dark no fog line back country roads. I think I like them?

Damn, that's too bad. I've seen some shows about the bars up there on the coast, and how nasty it can get.
