Thanks I understand better now. Doubt it is the fuse from what you told me. With the reader working on a cold engine and not on a hot engine is over my head. Someone will have to chime in and give you a hand. I'm hoping for you that this cause will take care of the transmission also. There are a lot of great, knowledgeable guys that know what you need to do at this point. Sandy

Possibly corrosion in the connection. I read a post previously of an econoline with a 5.0/auto having the same problem and it was due to corrosion.

This is from the Inoova manual. I would give this a try. The other trouble shooting is new batteries. Sandy

Inside the OBD connection ports on the truck. If it doesn't have the cover on it, all those years of exposure will cause corrosion.
