Fix for problem
the fix for the problem is to replace the 7pin plug. Ford used minimal dialectic grease in the wire harness. The wire harness is not water tight so corrosion happens really fast with the lack of grease. Ford has had a service bulletin about this problem. I was lucky as I had the option trailer camera system so I just popped out the factory 7pin and installed this one to stop all the warnings popping up. I went into the dealer and traded them the old 7pin for a new one. Don’t waste your time trying to clean out the plug or use a voltmeter.

not so far and it’s been 2 months. The secondary plug I used was packed with a lot of dielectric grease so that will help for now. The replacement plug the dealer gave me again had very little grease. When the weather up here in Canada gets warmer, I will be adding dialectic grease and heat shrinking around all the electrical connectors by the spare tire. Ford missed the mark with the quality of electrical connectors they used.
