Out of the blue, I’m getting trailer connected and trailer disconnected messages for no reason. After getting a trailer connected message, if I apply the brake controller it reports trailer disconnected immediately but then it’ll start again.
Well thats odd.. I would first check inside the 7-pin see if there is anything in there, then check if the plug on the back is loose, if you have a in bed plug i'd check the t-harness connections for that as well

Thanks for the ideas. I’ll check the plug. I do not have a bed plug, just the one next to the license plate.
I had the exact thing happened to me yesterday! I disconnected the battery and it still happened again. So today it hasn’t happened yet but it’s going to the dealership next Wednesday. I’m hoping it’s something simple. Nothing worse than an electrical gremlin

I’ll wait to see what they tell you before taking it in.
For what it is worth, plug-in a trailer socket tester and leave it there (maybe wrap electrical tape around the seam), left in it should show a constant TRAILER CONNECTED...if it works out that way vs intermittently it should tell them something...
I have no aftermarket lights or anything. The truck only has 1500 miles on it. The weird thing is its sporadic, today it only sent me the message a few times then stopped.
Look up trailer plug pinouts on google. Test the pins with a voltmeter. Look for voltages. Turn the truck off and do a continuity check between the pins and look for a short. My guess is you have a short in one of the plugs, or some kind of corrosion that's completing a circuit.

Thisnjust started today. Any ideas?
I have had this happen a few times. Took a small screwdriver to the female 7 pin connection and pressed the two sides together, problem solved.
