Does anyone know or know how to find out the amperage of the alternator on my 2015 F-250 6.2? Snow plow prep package? Thinking I need to go to a higher output unit...
From what I looked up, yes. You would think 150 amp would be plenty. I ran a Meyers 7.5 ft plow on a f150 with a 60 amp alternator. It would not pick the plow up when I first installed it but once I turned the idle speed up a little bit it picked it right up and worked fine for years like that.
What are you going to run with that inverter? The reason I ask, you might be able to get away with just buying a deep cycle or marine battery, and mounting it all in the back somewhere. If you are going to use it for short periods of time, the aux battery can supply the inverter, and then the trucks' charging system can slowly charge it back up as you are driving. This will also protect your starting battery from discharging and then you can get the engine started. You could keep the alternator you have. You have to remember also, that alternators do not have full output at idle. So when you go to use that inverter at full capacity, you will need someone to be sitting in the cab revving the engine to use it with a large load.
The inverter easily runs my rooftop Lance 13,500 A.C. when we are stopping off the grid.
I use a SEIC "stationary engine idle control" to maintain 1000-1200 RPM.The RPM to needed
for the 200 AMP output.
I ordered the truck and all the options.
