good morning. I am going to change my stock trans cooler for a 6.0 trans cooler. Since my Ex is a 2000 I don't have the oil to water cooler. I wanted to add an inline magnefine cooler. If I'm facing the front of the truck, which line coming off the cooler is the return line? Driver side line or passenger side line? Thank in advance.
... Can I go with a 6.0 radiator for me ex? I assume the OTW fittings would be 1/2 vs 3/8 of a 6.8 radiator.
The 5R110 trans cooler uses 1/2" lines.
If you don't want to get a new radiator just yet you could add a B&M Super cooler 70274 with 1/2" fittings along with the 5R110 cooler.
I'm running the OEM radiator trans cooler, the 5R110 cooler and the B&M cooler on our Excur.
From my measurements each one drops tans fluid temps about the same number of degrees.
The OEM radiator trans cooler on our Exped became clogged so I bypassed it and am currently running 2 of the B&M coolers which are working great.
R&T, my Ex is a 2000 so I don't have a factory OTW cooler. I was hoping the 6.0 radiator would fit since the fitting would already be 1/2. I guess my question is if the coolant intake and output are on the same location as the 6.8 trans and same hose size.

Do you have the 7.3L engine?
I think the radiator is the same for the 6.8L and the 7.3L.
The trans determines the size of the cooler lines, not the engine.
The 4R100 trans used behind the 6.8L & 7.3L uses 3/8" lines.
The 5R110 trans used behind the 6.0L has 1/2" lines, and since the chassis is the same the cooler will easily bolt in.
Brass 3/8"x1/2" hose adapters are available for the hose size change.
Be sure to use trans fluid cooler hose.
