Intermittent Miss With No Codes
Salutations all, I'm new to this community. I purchased my first Excursion two years ago after an exhaustive internet search for the right Ex. I finally found an 01 V10, 139k miles, in great shape at a dealership in Georgia. I needed something to tow my Jayco Travel Trailer (9k pounds) with the dogs, kids and gear, really so the dogs were in the cab instead of in a carrier in the bed of the F250. Vehicle ran great for about 10K and then I started having an intermittent miss. It was only one cyl but was very pronounced when towing, I thought the motor mounts were disintegrating from the vibe. Anyway, I took it to my trusty Ford Dealership and they replaced all 10 of my spark plugs, said the gaps were .08 in some cylinders. It ran good for about a month and started again. I took it back and they replaced the #8 Coil. Once again it ran good for about a month. This time I ordered 9 new coils and replaced them all. Once again I thought I had fixed it and towed the trailer to my fav fishing hole and on the way back, in the rain, it started missing again. I got under the hood and started touching things and as soon as I touched the #2 injector plastic plug it began missing. upon further examination I could see where the two wires were arcing. I replaced the connector and have had no issues. In retrospect I think that high humidity caused enough conduction path to cause the miss. I Just drove across the US and the Ex is a beast. I wanted to let some people know to check this out if you have the same type of issues.
Thanks
