I'm trying to deal with a problem for my dad while I'm home on holidays. The truck doesn't accept the key during a reprogramming, and the front map lights don't function properly. They are receiving power because you can manually turn them on by pushing them, the dome override switch doesn't work control them either but it works every other lamp on that circuit. I've never seen this from a Ford.
Thought I'd retype this since I pumped it out a 4 am half asleep.
2012 3.5 KR. Remote fob is completely functionless. When the key is inserted into the ignition and turned on the interior lights stop working unless manually turned on by the dash switch. I haven't seen this truck in a year and this may be unrelated but it seems the front hubs are stuck on too.
I'm gonna remove the negative terminal for a few hours and then check the fuses. Beyond that I'm not too sure where to start
Okay. I pulled the battery with no improvement. I searched up a manual on the internet and couldn't see any fuses that should corespond with this issue. I will continue to troubleshoot.
Still unable to program the remote. Still having issues with the interior lights.
I've been searching the web high and low for and answer to this. It theres a thread I'm missing and that's why I'm getting no responses, PLEASE, drop the link and I'll move on with my life.
Isn`t there a module to control those functions ? Or maybe as simple as replacing the battery in the fob . Cr 2032 is the battery number, just replaced mine

i appreciate your response. The key fob was the first thing I checked. The key pad on the door operates correctly so I believe the module must be partially functioning. It's also accepts the programming sequence and will go into programming mode, but won't recognize the key. If I could find them I'd check for water damage or other issues.
What's strange is the interior lights quit functioning as well when the key is turned on. I was hoping this was a common issue with an easy fix but apparently it's just this truck.
Upon further investigation I learned the truck has had a repair done to the rear high mount lamp due to water leaking. I'll figure out how to fold these seats and investigate further tomorrow. Possible water damage to the BCM/GEM whatever you wanna call it
I hope if nothing else this thread helps someone else in the future.
I was messing around with the driver door open and when I pressed the map light, all interior light minus the dash have gone out. The puddle lamps on the mirrors interestingly enough still operate as normal. I'm at a loss and can only hope the 4wd issue is related.
On a side note. I have no manual to this truck and therefore my understanding of this truck could be a bit limited. I've had an 05 expedition but that's my latest knowledge of Ford's systems.
