I have a 79 f150 dark blue met. Im looking for interior paint duplicolor or something. does anyone what color to look for to get a good match for the original.
specifically im looking for a match for the belt retractor covers up in the cab. any suggestions would be appreciated.
p.s. I looked for 3 years to find someone to paint my truck. it sat in a body shop for almost a year and they managed to move it from one end of the shop to the other. just venting - sorry but the bed is almost done and the cab is next. this is what it looked like when I got it. pretty rough but its coming together.
If you go the rattle can route, be careful because metalflake tends to mottle if you spray too thick or if too cold. If the part was already painted it could also lift, fisheye or separate so best to scuff, degrease with DuPont 3812, prime with 2 or 3 light coats duplicolor sandable primer let cure completely, lightly sand with 600 or 800 grit wet sandpaper or ultra fine scuff pad (careful not to sand through the primer!!), degrease again (even twice) then shoot the color several LIGHT coats. Don't rush and try to cover all at once or the flake will bunch up.
thanks guys- that's a big help. have had trouble is the past with trying to rattle can met flake. if you could post the chip chart that would be great.
