The paint scheme I have always liked is actually a factory ford stripe down the sides, but paint the stripes and do a colour that you actually like. I really like black, and would do the stripe in a metallic blue or copper. I know black is hard to do, but if you are doing it yourself, the imagination is the limit. Good luck.
Talked to a paint shop and they recommended a factory color as they are less critical to work with so I have chosen Viper Blue Matalic and a good paint shop can put it in rattle cans for less critical spots and they also sell by the pint, quart ,and gallon. .... I would so to the nearest paint shop and talk to them you can learn a lot from them and look at a lot of colors factory colors are also usually less money as compared to custom colors ..... good luck
Paint color is a lot about personal choice, but like you, if I repainted my truck, I probably wouldn't go with a "loud" color. I always thought a gunmetal grey would look nice on one of these trucks.
Just a "plain vanilla" Wimbleton White would look good too, and white is about the most forgiving color if your body work isnt perfect. It wont hide your shortcomings, but it wont make them jump out at you like a darker color. Stay away from black unless you are an expert bodyman................
LMAO..........Arond here, a lot of people would know what that was...........Other places, not so much...........But not a bad color, especially if it's the more metallic looking older MF color. The later MF gray has no metallic in it and is similar to "battleship gray"............just a thought
Personally, with just the upper trim, I like a solid color. I'm partial to greens and blues and reds. But I prefer tu-tones on these trucks, I still stay with the same colors, but go with Wimbledon white down the center. But I think they look better with full race track trim, and without the trim, I meet the colors at the center of the dent and at the bottom body line...basically where the trim would run anyway...and then a pin stripe to blend the colors.
That will look pretty decent. Kind of a loud blue though.... You should see if someone could photoshop the colors you want on it to give you an idea what the finished product would look like.
