John, and Sherry, congrats on the new grandbaby!!!
Absolutely nothing new to share from us. We did manage to get our Christmas display up and running in the new house. It's all broken down and in the garage, and basement now, just needs to be put away.
Winter is here, and we're looking at single digit temperatures every night for the next few nights, and highs of freezing.
Hope y'all had a nice Christmas and stay safe this evening, and a prosperous New Years!

Our new place all lit up!
Thanks Bob, looks you had an awesome display again this year! Weather here is warm and muggy and rain rain rain rain. I guess thats better than freezing but I sure am ready for yard to stop being a swamp.

Happy new year NC chapter, haven’t been around much in the last few years but I’m back. A lot of new names around here hope to get back involved again and get to know all the folks that have joined since I was here before.

Welcome back. Check out the Spring Fling thread. Trail riding, four wheeling, firing range, plenty of BS and always tons of food cooked daily.

I’ll check it out, how many active members are involved here now? It’s been quite some time since I was here on a regular basis and I know several of our old members have passed away and a lot more have drifted away. I was just curious if there were any of the old familiar faces around?

Not to many of the older members are active anymore. Steve, (ncranchero) posts on the buy and sell thread sometimes and helped me out with seat belt parts for my 94. James, (ncheavymetal) was our leader and very active but unfortunately is MIA.
I guess that leaves Marty (FordxFour) at #20 and myself at #49 as the oldest active.

I just got a message from one of the older guys about a year ago out of the blue, he was letting me know that Cliff “Supersnake AKA Old Tired Rebel” had passed away. I was just curious. Sounds like the NC chapter needs a shot in the arm.

We do have a monthly dinner and the two camping trips. The dinner moves around, east, west, and south so that members like myself can attend a couple times a year.
The core group of active members are around the Raleigh area.

I’ll have to hang around and get to know some you guys. I was actually the NCFTE chapter leader for a while but had to give it up due to lack of time for everything I had going on at the time.

I think I remember you as leader. IIRC then it went to the fellow that was a GM master tech and did sled pulling with his Ford truck. He quit when he became a father and traded the truck for a Suburban...

Scott bought a suburban? Dang never figured him as a traiter. LoL. Yeah I pulled with my old Super duty as well but I committed the ultimate sin and put a ISB Cummins engine in it. I’ve since sold that truck and bought another unmolested Super Duty. Hopefully I can refrain from sinking a bunch of cash into this one and just drive it.

Mako,
Sounds like you've been around here a few times back in the day. I thought I recognized the name from years ago. Some how they suckered me into being chapter leader, I don't know what they (or I) was thinking as I have no idea what I'm doing. But I keep getting told there is free beer involved somewhere. I just haven't seen any of it yet.

Yes we could do with a shot in the arm.. or a kick in the ***. either way. We have a dinner coming up in Smithfield, then I think we should all head over to Lexington next month. I've been talking about Lexington BBQ and haven't had any in quite a while now. Been sort of craving it.

Oh and for those in the Garner\Raleigh area. Good news. They are opening a Grandsons over on 401 where Larry's used to be. Hope it does better business than Larry's did in that location.

I'm also still waiting on my parts to finish my exhaust.. I was hoping they would be in by today. I've got some not so smart idea's forming for a 30 year old truck

It’s been a tough year for shade tree mechanics that’s for sure. I’m glad I’ve got a shop. I’m trying to fight off the urge to go crazy with the latest truck I bought, I have done a few small mods like lights and such but trying to keep the motor reliable. Yes I’ve been around a while just took a long leave of absence. I miss the big group of peeps we used to have active. We definitely had a good time at gtgs and work days. Maybe when the weather breaks we can get this chapter back rolling good.
