My ham radio and CB is mounted behind the rear passenger seat. That begats a/l 4 cables which need to be routed through the cab somehow to behind the console:
1 - Kenwood remote control cable
2 - KW mic
3 - KW audio
4 - CB remote
1, 2, and 4 are essentially standard Cat5 cables, perhaps 3/16" dia and the audio is a standard stereo hookup cable with mini-phone jacks on each end, so its probably 1/8" dia.
So what is best way to route these through the cab? On my previous truck I ran them under the floormats next to the door thresholds. Just wondering if anyone has better suggestions.
If you're talking about internal only, that's exactly what the door thresholds are for, they have plenty of space to route wires there. I ran 4g power there for my amps, speaker wires, amp control, all sorts of stuff. Super easy to get to and you can pull up the carpet pretty easy as well to get to the center console.
Agreed with Tricon. Pull up the door sills and corresponding trim pieces and run your wires. I've got several bundles run internally via these two channels. Works a charm.
I ran my cables for power and antenna along the frame rails and into the cab through the rubber grommet under the front drivers or passenger floor. From there I ran cables along threshold or under carpet/ vinyl
