Spinach, did you check the fuses, ground wires at the sockets, all applicable wiring for cracks or breaks? Sounds like a short to me. I had that happen with the dash light on my '78 but it's been too long ago, no idea now what the cause was. Start at square two (since one is the bulbs) and work your way from their, let us know what you find, and don't find, for that matter
