Turn signal flasher

Stupid me, left my Chilton's at home so hopefully I can be steered in the right direction...

Noticed this morning that my turn signals weren't working. Got a couple of weak flashes and then dead as a doornail. The hazard switch still flashes the lights. I did notice that if I use the turn signal lever and I'm standing on the brakes, the brake lamps go out.

My LTD had a flasher unit for the turn signals and a seperate one for the hazards. Anyone know if these trucks are the same? Hopefully I can just swing out and pick up a new flasher (pleeeeeease don't be the turn signal switch).

I had a feeling it was something like that. I have the fuse panel at home so I didn't have the diagram to be sure what I was looking at.

Flasher was like 12 bucks way back when for my LTD...I assume this is about the same.

$12 would be the expensive heavy duty one. i grabbed a couple for about $3 each. its up to you which one you want to buy. some swear by the HD ones, but i can buy several of the regular ones for that

HD you say?

Naa, forget that. I'm sure the floor will rust thru and the truck will split in half before another flasher unit dies on me.

The HD ones are usually for the guys that haul trailers. A standard flasher will have trouble with the additional load of added bulbs and flash at faster rate.

The standard flasher and hazard flasher are interchangeable (ie, the exact same) right? NPD lists one unit for both applications.

I should be able to just run out and swap them and see if that's the cause of my problems, right?

Yhea, I'm willing to bet they're exactly the same...don't know why I can never put 2 and 2 together in my head these days, I must be losing it.

Thanks guys, I'm going to run out on lunch and see what the deal is.
