Charge cable routing
I'm having challenges with some battery terminal clamps on my '01 7.3L Excursion, so I thought I'd go ahead and just replace all the battery cables while I'm at it. That then got me thinking about replacing/upgrading the power cable off the alternator. Between the routing of it, and the wiring loom covering most of it, it's not an easy task to follow the routing of the alternator cable. After it leaves the alternator, it goes across the valley of the engine and then disappears. At that point, does it go down to the starter/starter relay? Basically I'm trying to figure out the proper length of the cable. I will likely just cut the old cable and leave it in place.
thank,
Herb
I left the stock wiring in play and added a 4/0 cable from the alternator back to the firewall, along to the passengers side fender well, then a fuse, then to the passengers battery. I also added a 4/0 cable from the passengers side to the DS battery. I bought a pre-made ground cable and went from the alternator mounting bracket to the frame. I can get you lengths if you need them.

I can figure out those lengths easy enough. I would be interested in the length of your ground cable, and where you attached it to on the frame, and what fuse setup you went with.
thanks,
Herb
