Have you tried LEDs? My dash isn't installed yet, but testing with a 12V power supply shows them to be a bit brighter than the originals.
I am also looking for brighter dash lights, so far I have tried two different LED replacements for the dash bulbs in my 41 cadillac which are similar to the F1. Neither were impressive and neither as bright as a 6v bulb with 12v on it That is the brightness I am looking for, too bad they dont last long like that. Probably have to wire up my own LEDs and try that.
Really, not to be a jerk but you need to provide better input if you want educated helpful output. What bulbs are you using? There are several of different wattages, so to answer your question properly we need to know what it is you have.
When I rebuilt my instrument cluster I repainted the lighting channels with bright gloss white. The original paint was a very faded flat off-white. It made a huge difference to the point where I could probably use a dimmer. I'm also using 5000k LED's. If you decide to do this don't forget to mask off the high beam indicator hole. I'll try to get a pic.
There are two bulbs that are similar sizes but different candlepowers. As I recall, either will fit a '52's dash lights. #53 is 1 CP, #57 has a bigger globe and is 2 CP. The rated life of the 57 is half that of the 53, probably not a concern here. Both are 12v. (MSCD is candlepower in the chart.)
#53 (#51 6 volt equivalent) is used in the high beam indicator, cigar lighter, and turn indicator jewell lamp. #57 (#55 6 volt equivalent) is for instrument illumination. Per the Ford '48-'50 shop manual.

They are not quite as bright, battery is low because I've been testing with it, but you get the idea. Apologies for the picture clarity.
