Hi I've been reading up on putting HB in an OBS. I've got a cummins in my 97 and dont have a vacuum pump. Ive got a ZF psp so I'll need new hoses. Im aware the ~87-97 F-SD BRB-37 is a bolt in deal. I cant find one. I have my old vacuum booster and will be reusing my brake MC for now, dually rear drums.
I've read guys redrilling the firewall but it looked to me there was a nut or some sort of hardware holding the mounting plate to the unit itself. I'm wondering if its possible to simply swap my original 4 studded mounting plate with the one off the SD hb unit. Has anyone tried it?
The push rod is incorrect and the pedal will be to low if you make an adapter for a 99+ unit. I suggest just buying the correct one. I just bought one and paid 270.00 with the core fee. You can also try www.car-part.com and find a used unit complete with master cylinder. That way you have the master cylinder and the critical pushrod.
I guess maybe I misunderstood because I thought he was asking about 99 and up superduty trucks hydro boost master cylinder onto an obs. I have already done the OBS SD conversion on mine. I haven't moved the rod farther up the pedal arm so it is still more effort to push. I did put a proportioning valve in to reduce pressure to the rear to keep the rears from locking up before the fronts
I'm starting my swap tomorrow. Found a used hydroboost off a 95 superduty on car-part.com and I will be moving the brake pedal pin as well. Along with constantly reading @FORDF250HDXLT writeup and others I found this helpful too: https://www.powerstrokenation.com/fo...290-post8.html
Well shucks I had no idea about car-part.com. Pretty nifty. If this junkyard SD part doesnt work out I'll get an OBS SD one off there. I'm assuming they dont ship?
Anyways I went to the junkyard and pulled a hydroboost unit off a 2000 ECLB DRW truck for $30, got other goodies as well Was busy so I quickly held it up on my truck. Looked good. I'll double check my photos but I think the pedal pin was the same distance from the pivot. My master cylinder fit right on without having to slot the mounting holes. Two of the firewall studs werent fitting in the stock holes. Ended up knocking them out, welding the holes, and drilling new holes. We'll see how it goes in the morning. If things go according to plan I'll make a post about it with beaucoup photos and measurements.

They do. I believe it depends on the place you choose. Im in the panhandle of Fl and my unit came from a yard in Tampa, they charged $132 w/shipping.
