So I am considering going hydroboosts on my rebuild of 1978 f250. But I was wondering if anyone would happen to know the difference between the super duty hydroboost units that are recommended. And a1996 cobra Hydroboost unit?
The only reason I ask is I have the cobra unit laying around from a mustang part out
Im not an expert on these things but from my understanding the hydroboost units are the same for the most part except for the pedal rods and some early Ford units have oddball psi in/out fittings. Also some have different bolt patterns for the master cylinder. If you have 1 laying around, try to bolt it up and see how close it is.
I used a booster off a 2008 F.350 for my highboy. The pedal bolted right up to the rod. The master cylinder also bolted right on. Then I just build an adapter for onto the firewall that was about 2" thick. Hydratechs' website is a great resource to find your line fittings.
Sorry to Hijack your thread a little bit here, but had a question on late 70's Lincoln hydroboost unit. I got one out of a u pullet yard awhile back and the master cylinder's ports are on the passenger side of the vehicle, tried the master off my 77 f250 but the bore is too big to fit, anyone know of a master cylinder that fits that hydroboost unit with ports exiting toward the driver side? I will be upgrading to rear discs in the rear as well before it is back on the road.
Is there a particular year F350 Master cylinder to use, based on rockauto some of the ones for the F250 Overlap some of the ones for F350 depending on year. Would the F350 one run 4 wheel disc just fine?
Maybe get a Superduty master cylinder. I believe they exit the driver side and will have a larger fluid reservoir for your disc brakes when you upgrade.

Reason: Misread question
That brings me back to my original question, looking at the ones for an 08 super duty, that's exactly what I'm looking for, but will it fit in the 70's Lincoln Hydroboost? Anybody know what the outside diameter of the super duty master cylinder bore is?
