No casting number?

Alright, I’m new here so bear with me. But I picked up a 74 short bed 2wd f100. It supposedly has a 302 but has a performer 289 intake. I haven’t checked the heads or the number by the starter. The only cast number in the lifter valley is the number 5 and the ford emblem. What does that mean?

289 and 302 use the same size block and heads, so the intake would work on either engine.

Look for casting numbers on the side of the block, above the starter.

I guess I shouldn’t have said no casting number. I know it’s the same block and all, I just was wondering what the 5 meant in the lifter valley
