Hi, has anyone seen a mod to add a light to the center console on a lariat? Would be nice to have it lit when opened or tied in to the ambient lighting.
I'd like to have the area to the left of the cup holders lit. Toyota lights this area by a little light on the bottom of rear view mirror. I would have already done a mod but the snazzy changing color and intensity ambient lighting makes a single color mod, that I would do, be out of place.
If you want it to be lit just put a led in there that is triggered by a keyed circuit. No need for a switch unless you want to add complication and complexity. I single led won't draw much and won't put out any heat to worry about.
I added a couple LEDs to the console, as well as an overhead one to light up the console itself. Really helpful having that red/orange light to find stuff in the console at night. It doesn't affect your night vision and you can find things very quickly. You dont notice it at all until you reach over with your hand and it lights it up. I missed that light from my Tundra. I added the same exact LED to the inside console, put two of them in there. The stock light was crap, couldn't see anything with it, I just removed the bulb.
Our 2019 Lariat Ultimate center console has a light in the front storage cubby along with the illuminated USB ports. The cup holders are also illuminated. However, the rectangular storage bin on the left side of the console is not illuminated.
I like the gentle overhead mini-flood light concept. Our old Subaru Foresters had ‘em, and they were very effective.
