Hi; First time posting. Had the truck a month now and have learned much from you all. Maybe you've got an answer to my project situation.
Has anyone tried to access the wiring for the 12 volt console outlet to add a light/switch inside? I thought it would be easy, but found the outlet pretty much "moulded" into the console itself and as of yet I haven't found a way to get it apart to get to the wiring.
I guess I'm just thinking of the good ol' days when there was a light in the glove box, etc. Thanks for the info.
TJWORKER: Just go to Home Depot or Lowes and get you a 6 inch stick on led light stick it at the top of the console left side. works great can see everything in console for a few bucks and less than one minute install time.
There are much better ideas to be found. My neighbor did this mod to his '10 F150 and it worked like a charm. Best mod I've seen for under $20. Here's a link to how to do it on an F150. Our trucks aren't much different. All you need is a mercury tilt switch, LED lights for under the tray mount on the front, and some splice connectors, etc.
There is an easier way, I have this light in my boat, plugs into cig lighter/power port and has a small switch to turn it on/off. Also, I have several flashlights that recharge batteries by plugging into the power port. just turn it on while plugged in.
CABINDOC: sounds like a plan for sure quick and easy and ready for various reasons. I went to Home Depot and bought a Sylvania swivel 4 led light sticks on with velcro lights up console or other parts of truck better than most flashlights.
