I thought about that also, but don't want to just have the phone running all the time...and WHAT IS UP WITH THE SYNC3 CRANKING MY PHONE VOLUME UP TO MAX!!!!..arrgghh
I was looking at the Rexing too, honestly. Whatever I get, I want it to send video to the cloud. In case of "dirty cop mode". I know people that have had their footage deleted after being arrested. Syncing to the cloud will prevent that.
The Vantrue N2 is also a good cam and I can testify that their customer service is top notch.
I accidentally fried the camera with 12v and they sent a replacement even after I told them it was my fault.
The picture quality is excellent and it can record at 2048 at 30fps. Or 1920 at 60fps.
They also have a model for in cab recording and it has an ir led for night vision.
Of course my 3 are old tech now, but they've been solid cameras and done the job. I've got a Transcend DrivePro 220 from February 2016 in my F250. I also have a couple of Swann DriveEye from the same era, maybe even a year earlier. One for my wife's car and another that I switch back & forth between my summertime Mustang and my daily driver Pontiac Torrent.
You can make any adjustments or set up via the phone app once the once you've selected the camera's wifi signature on your phone. Any recordings are saved to the camera's SD card and you can access them anytime from the app to view on a phone or tablet. Then you can save them or forward on to somewhere else. I let them run whenever the vehicle is on. They'll simply overwrite the oldest data on the SD card once it's full.
The Transcend has a GPS option to let you know where you were when an incident occurred. I'm sure that's much more prevalent in today's cameras.
I spent much time researching and went with Garmin 55. Absolutely flawless in every way, just like all their other line of products, great company with superior products.
