Well, my new gas tanks have been shipped so it's time to plan next update. The sloppy rear redo. Its a 9 inch, ratio unknown but guessing 3.50 -4.11. because the c6 shifts to 2nd as soon as I let off the brake at a light. Unlimited slip, one wheel spinner. Don't know if its a caput wornout limited slip or just open. I haven't even got under, close enough to see if theres a tag.
Will be using truck for cruise-ins and to tow a small vintage travel trailer to show/gatherings. oh yea... it's a 400-2v with c6. Truck is bone stock and original except for 80-90s F150 rims. Going to keep it that stock as long as I can deal with the stock 168hp. But, that might not be very long. Im thinking of going to a traction-lok, maybe around 3.50 set up. What do you think on rear? Thanks.
400 w/a C6 would usually have a 3.00 or 3.25 ratio. 3 or 4 speeds usually had a 3.50 ratio. 4.11 ratio available, but very few people wanted it.
During and after the 1st Arab Oil Embargo (1973/74), people for the first time since WWII were very concerned about MPG
1975/79 F100/150's could also have 2.75 or 2.47 ratios. Ford also installed Dana 44 rear axles in some 1976/79 F100/150's with 2.72, 3.07, 3.23 & 3.73 ratios.
The 2nd Arab Oil Embargo occurred in 1979. People in today's world are either unaware or have forgotten the 'Jimmy' Carter Recession that caused the economy to take a nose dive.
