Start/stop conundrum
Start/stop conundrum
Here's one for you electronic wizards, I installed the jumper on the switch about 10 months ago with no problems. Sunday when I was using my truck I shut it off when in drive and happened to be on flat land. I got out for about 10 minutes and when I got back in it, started it (no problem) at the first stop the engine shut off. I looked at the button and the "off" light was not lite. I was about 30 miles from home and it continued to turn off like there was no jumper. I could use sport mode to have not shut off so it acted normal as built with the exception of nothing worked with the jumpered button when I was at intersections.
Today I got out my 7mm socket and plastic wedges and was going to take off the panel and see whats up. I needed to turn the truck around to get the passenger door open to do it from that side. When i started the truck the "off" light was on just like it's been for the last 10 months. I drove the truck around for about 10 minutes and the engine never shut off.
What do you think? I have no answer. Thanks

@Jimmy-six I have a question for you. Have you ever checked to see if the jumper has ever thrown any non-wrench codes ? I ask, because somebody said that on the 2017 there were no issues with using the jumper, but on the 2018, at startup there is a new check and the PCM gets a fault from the jumpered switch and posts a code ??? Everybody that I have question with 2018's have never checked. Just looking for somebody that has checked and has used the Jumper.
Thanks

I do believe a loose jumper was and is not the problem. My reason if it was loose or not attached the button would have worked as a switch and it did not. The "off" light never lite and pushing it did nothing.
I believe our vehicles today do a lot while "sleeping" which we do not know Just like our home computers do. My truck sat over night and I believe went through some normal checks, down loads and fixed itself. I'm sure I caused it by leaving the truck parked in "drive" and left the vehicle locking the doors. It did try to tell me I was doing something wrong by short honks but I ignored them. When I got back to the truck and opened the door, went to push the start button a message was on the screen that I improperly shut off the engine. It just seems weird that the only affected was the start/ stop and how it could ignored the jumper is way out of my league.
The guys who program these systems try to see every scenario and I'll bet some place in the memory of my truck for someone to find in 10 yrs will be the jumper.
