Sometimes after using the brakes and parking the truck the brakelights remaining on. Ignition Key is out.
soft kick with hands to the brake pedal and the light is off.
anyone with same issue? Any switch to lubricate or any other advice?
the brake is ok, truck running smooth and brakes well.
Agree 100% on the switch, also check all the grounds at all four corners of the truck. Bad ground or bad socket connection (also be sure to check grounds within the sockets) will cause odd symptoms, possibly at the other end of the vehicle.)
Just have to crouch down and lay on the floor and look up the length of the brake pedal arm and follow it up and you will find the brake light switch, they are usually all plastic(black and white) and threaded for adjustment, have to unplug it first and then can spin/rotate it closer to or farther away from the switch. In your case you will be backing it off a couple turns or so as it doesn't have enough room to "un-engage" when you park. Then plug it back in and test brake lights again. Adjust til proper operation achieved.
It is a 77 4x4 F150
I will check the Switch. Is there a quick picture where the switch hides itself?
See bottom of pic:
The adjustable switch (13480 in pic) threads into a metal retainer (13A629) that snaps into a hole on the brake pedal (2455) bracket.
This retainer is held in place by 3 nubs that break off. When this occurs, the retainer either dangles from the pedal or falls off of it, taking the switch along with it.
