brake switch 1967 f250

I recently aquired a 1967 f250. body good motor and tranny good, but when checking lighting, I have found that brake lights dont work. Got to looking, and cant find the brake switch anywhere. There is 2 red wires that are stripped in the area where a switch should go. I am assuming these are for the switch, but when I tie them together, still no brake lights. Any thoughts?

The brake switch is part of the brake pedal rod going to master cylinder. Typical they get stiff and not work properly(mine did). Poor design, and they then switched to remote mount that works off the pedal arm.

Yes, the plug had two red wires going to it. Check the turn signal switch wiring, as it runs through it and if that is messed up, you'll not have brakelights.

that esplains a lot, I converted to disc brakes prior to checking lthe lights on the truck. I didnt notice the rod and switch when I took it apart, Thanks for the input, I knew someone out there knew what was wrong. I have a different pedal assembly, and switch of a 68 i will use.
Thanksagain

A quick way to see if it is in the signal switch? put a test light on either wire WITH THE KEY ON,one of them should be hot the other is not till connected to the hot one, this is the quickest way to test and see if your sig. switch is working properly. If one wire doesn't light up your tester, then it is in your switch most asuredly.
