Whats a good way of figuring out if your bed is in alignment. Looking down the side of the truck, I sometimes think its off and other times think its ok.
If you want it corrected, don't wait. My dealer's body shop moved my cab and said it was covered by Ford under an initial 12-month/12K-mile "adjustment" period. FWIW, mine does not have the 5er/GN prep package.
Ok so one really has no way of knowing if its the cab or bed thats off. Or how to figure it out?
And if its the bed, im getting a sprayed in liner done at linex. So some here say once you take out the bolts you cant reuse them..Does linex spray over the bolts
then or take them out?. On my old 07F150 bed they removed them and sprayed and reinstalled the bolts. Not sure they were a one time use back then.
How hard is it to align the bed, something that linex can do when they spray the bed if they are taking the bolts out?
Trying to figure out the best way to approach this. Without goofing up the sprayed in liner, if its not a issue then I would just have the liner done and worry about
alignment later.

Ford calls them "one time use" bolts, but the reality is...unless they break, you can use them over and over again. Some Line-X places will spray over them, others will remove them to spray. Mine were removed and reinstalled after. And yeah, you can ask the Line-X place to adjust the bed, if possible, while they have it off (if they take it off). Each place is different...
If sometimes it looks off and sometimes not, it must not be that bad. If having it done under warranty I'd have it done prior to spraying. If the bolts are covered over, the dealer, in my op, would have the right to decline working on it.

I would have thought that if the bolts were sprayed over, then that's further proof to the dealership that it came that way from the factory. If the bolts are removed and reinstalled by Line-X, I can see how the dealer could easily deny factory alignment issues based on that.
Not doubting you one bit, but that would be my way of thinking. I'd definitely get it looked it/fixed before Line-X touches it. I'd love to take mine in, but my bolts were removed by Line-X, so I'm not sure how that would go over with the dealer...even though before and after the bed sits in the same, crooked position...
is the bed adjustment only left to right or can it go forward and backward also?
Im wondering if taking 2 pieces of string per each side of the truck and figure out how to attach it on the truck front to rear. Run one string down the side of the truck, and up higher, along the bed/cab and one down lower, along the bed/cab down the side of the truck. then compare the sides with the string locations....
i wouldnt bother with string. use the frame as reference. measure frome frame out to different points on bed and cab. bed usually doesnt have a ton of adjustment so you may have to adjust cab also. just depends how straight everything is now
I had a repair done which required the dealer's body shop to remove the bed, and they had to cut around the GFX (factory installed) spray-in liner. Before they started, I asked them to move the bed over so it would better align with the cab. They used new bolts when reinstalling the bed and they couldn't align it with the cab because the bed would not move any further to that side. They took it to a local Xtreme Liners shop for them to respray the entire bed for color matching and left the bolt heads exposed. I had to make a second appointment for the body shop to move the cab. Dropped it off and they called me 45 minutes later to say they were done. One aspect I liked is they maintained the cab-to-front-bumper alignment, too.

If you dont mind me asking. What did the body shop charge you to move the bed in the 45 min that it took?
