Bed / Cab Alignment

I noticed this the other day on my new F250 - the drivers side has a 1/2" to 3/4" offset b/w the cab and the bed but the drivers side is flush. It's not super noticeable unless you're looking for it specifically (I obviously never saw it when I bought the truck)

Wondering if this is an issue or they're all that way. Going to try to find some other Super Duty's in my daily travels and see how they're beds are aligned with the cab.

Yep, it's happened a few times here.

Loosen the bed or cab, your choice, and throw a cat at the side of the truck. Tighten up, good to go. Keep in mind, the bed is a hair narrower than the cab. I wonder if it was miss aligned at the factory, and the prep guys at the dealer only made it worse by realigning it perfectly, but flush on one side.

Ford always has the weirdest foibles.

Lucky me, mine is straight and centered. Would have been even more obvious with a Snug Top Canopy.

Exactly the same thing here with my 2017 F250 CCSB. When I had Linex install the spray in bed liner we tried to move the bed over since all the mounting bolts were removed at that point. It wouldn't budge. They must move the cab I guess. Whenever something breaks I will have it re-positioned when I take it in to the dealer.

I've noticed this across all brands. I don't know why it's so hard for manufactures to line up beds and cabs? The Fords seem to be kicked off to one side.

On my GM trucks, the bottom of the bed tapers in towards the bottom. It looks strange, because the bed is flush with the cab up until about 12" from the bottom, where it starts to taper inwards. It doesn't line up with the cab corners at all.

Mine was like that. I noticed it right after they got it off the truck. Dealer had their body shop moved the cab over to even things out before I did the final inspection and test drive.

the bed lines up on dowels either in the frame or the bottom of the bed, i don't know which way. the dowels do not allow for any alignment. I have tried to move my bed with no luck. I know some have raised the bed and removed those dowels an aligned it that way. others have moved the cab

This ^^^^ . The dealer, if they agree to do it will align the cab to the bed not the bed to the cab.

Is this something one could do in the garage or no?

I honestly don't know. I do know that I wouldn't attempt it myself. No lift or real room in my garage.

You could do it in your garage. But dont go too wild trying to jocky the cab over. They have some wiggle room, but not that much. Dont forget the torque specs for the cab bolts as well.

cab bed misalignment seems to happen across all brands. thinking out loud, you could probly loosen the cab bolts then use a small bottle jack and some pieces of wood between the frame rails and cab to move it in the direction you need then tighten bolts

Thanks I'll take a look under there this weekend and see if it's something I feel like tackling - really don't trust the dealer's guys
