Power seat

I have a 2006 f250 XLT the ekec seat will move every direction but reverse. I'm 6'2" tall and need my seat to go back. I've priced things at ford dealer thinking I need a seat motor replacement they are telling me I have to get the whole track can't get just a motor and to the tune of ,$1000.00. Well I see motors on line for 150 or less. Is it possible to just replace the motor

are your sure it the motor? Could it be a bad switch?

I would suggest you pull the seat and try to test the motor. I would think if it runs one direction, it will run in the other direction as with DC motors, you are only reversing the polarity of the motor wires. Ground one of the motor wires and apply voltage to the other wire. Then reverse the wires and apply voltage.

Here is a diagram from a later model with 6 way power seats. I suspect the operation is similar but maybe the wire colors are different. This is from a 2014 F250.

If you notice, the switches only change the polarity of the 12vdc going to the various motors.

check the track that the seat moves on. I had the exact same problem as you described would go forward but not backwards, the tracks were gummed up with dirt, sludge an lots of muck! Once I got them cleaned out problem was gone, also push on the seat with the switch down going backwards when doing this. Make sure you soak it with your choice of penetrating oil.....hit it heavy too. This was on my 2000 F250 SD XLT...worked for me.
