keypad blinking

Got a problem with a 2014 Explorer sport 4x4. The keypad located on the drivers door window frame, this is a flush mount aka it's hidden until touched, is not responding to touch or if it does it will not respond to the correct code. Most times it just blinks on and off after you have touched it a few times. I have read that the blinking is a theft deterrent, aka lockout for multiple attempts to prevent hacking the code I guess. I am not sure how to troubleshoot this and when I try to find the replacement part it only shows the keypad that sits proud of the window frame not the flush mount. Any ideas?

I just received this last week but I haven't installed it yet. I'll post back when I get it installed.
