Question Filter availability

Is this filter available thru any parts stores? It's the one at the bottom of the pickup tube on the sending unit. I might spray this one with carb cleaner, as it looks clean, or can I remove it, and place an extra inline filter in the fuel line? Inside of tank is spotless

It should take FORD PN DIAZ 9A011-A (3/8" inlet).

Let NUMBER DUMMY give the final word as I no longer have all my MPC's.

GOOGLE D1AZ 9A011-A and you will get several sources.

I did thanks. If the one in the photo is still good I will go ahead and use it, not sure if it is clogged up or not, inside of the tank, was spotlessly clean. Could I substitute an inline filter outside the tank, in place of the sock filter?

Some people do but I wouldn't. The original filter is a very coarse screen type filter. Any external filter you buy will be finer and clog easier. You want to minimize any restrictions on the suction side of the fuel system, any pressure drop aggravates vapor lock.

Yes, an inline would be much simpler to service if plugged. Mechanical fuel pump? Try to stay at 100 micron @ tank.

Introduced in 1971, could be retrofitted on earlier vehicles.

D1AZ-9A011-A .. Plastic Meshed Filter Screen - 3/8" I.D. - Slips onto the end of the fuel sending unit pickup tube / Obsolete

1961/79 Econoline; 1966/79 Bronco; 1967/79 F100/350 except with in-cab fuel tank // 1980/89 all F100/350, Bronco & Econoline with mechanical fuel pump.

1957/79 all Passenger Cars except 1970/77 Maverick/Comet & 1971/80 Pinto/Bobcat // All 1980/86 Passenger Cars except with CFI & EFI

Since this part fits a lot of older vehicles, I would check the classic parts places, they may carry it or someone may reproduce it.

Interesting that it's supposed to fit the 66 to '77 Broncos. My '71 uses a 5/16" fitting instead of the 3/8" version shown. Maybe you're meant to epoxy them in place? Otherwise they just slip over the tube and fall right off.
I actually have one in my tool drawer somewhere still in the Ford box because I bought one from the dealer in about '78 or so, but when I attempted to install it I found that both my main and aux tanks had smaller tubes on their sending unit/fuel pickups. Stuffed them away in my box for a later date whenever I decide to either sell them, or install them in my '79 instead (which are definitely the 3/8" version).

The 5/16" I.D. filter is D1FZ-9A011-A

The 1965/72 Ford Passenger Car Parts Catalog doesn't list the Bronco applications for either filter, but I know it was used on, for examples: Maverick/Comet & Pinto/Bobcat.

1973/79 Ford Passenger Car Parts Catalog says: 1973/79 Bronco: D1AZ-9A011-A 3/8" I.D.
